Sayville Chamber Goes Green With Solar Power 08/12/2009 When the Sayville Chamber of Commerce expressed interest in renewable solar energy, Mike Bailis stepped up with a solution. For FREE! Mr. Bailis, Vice President of SUNation Solar Systems (Formerly Sun Power Systems), Long Island’s leading solar company, installed a $24,000 Sharp solar panel system free of charge. SUNation utilized LIPA’s assignable rebate program for the installation and received $14,000 in rebates toward the project. The new system produces 3,168 watts from 18 Sharp modules and 1 Sharp Sunvista converter on the Bud Van Wyen Memorial Building located in Sayville, Long Island. Mr. Bailis, one of the most recognized leaders in home and commercial solar installations, explained his company’s donation, “It was my civic duty to do a green deed. I was moved by The Chamber’s interest in going green and its commitment to improving our community. The decision to donate and install a system was based on helping The Chamber save money and to educate our community.” To further emphasize the green initiative, SUNation installed the solar panel system on Earth Day. The Sayville Chamber of Commerce proudly displays a plaque in honor of SUNation, its employees, and their contribution to help make Sayville a green community.
